Current Awareness

HSIS offers two methods to help you keep current in your field.

AutoAlerts for specific topics of interest.

A comprehensive search strategy is created for each topic and saved within one or more databases. As each database is updated, the results are either emailed or mailed to you. Updates usually occur weekly. Request this service using our online form (AutoAlert option on menu).

Table of contents for specific journals of interest.

Users receive the tables of contents for each journal selected and request copies of any articles they wish to read in full. NOTE: Copying of articles for this service is limited by the U.S. Copyright Law.

To begin this service:

• Select titles from HSIS list of current medical and nursing journal subscriptions
• Complete the table of contents service request form (Table of Contents Request option on menu).
• Allow approximately four weeks for the initial processing of your request.
• HSIS staff will photocopy the table of contents of each issue as journals are received.
• Request articles either by circling the page number(s) of each article you want to read and returning the page(s) to HSIS, or by using the online form (choose Journal Article Request from the menu). Articles are mailed in batches once a month.
